- On Commencement day, graduates should arrive at the Harkness Field at 7 a.m. for check-in. There will be signs and volunteers at the line-up area to direct students to the correct location. Students will line up by school, degree, and major (alphabetical within your major).
- The Commencement ceremony will take place outdoors, rain or shine. If it rains during Commencement, Rensselaer will provide students with rain ponchos. Students do not have to bring their own rain gear.
- Wear flat, comfortable shoes as you will be walking on turf and grass. High heels should be avoided.
- No backpacks or large bags are allowed at Commencement.
- Only service animals specifically trained to assist a person with a disability are permitted on campus during Commencement. For the safety of your pet and all guests, please leave your pet at home.
- Try to stay for the entire ceremony in order to be respectful to other graduates and their families.
